Ivan Fecan

Ivan Fecan is transitioning out of his role as the Executive Chair of the Board of Thunderbird Entertainment Group Inc. to focus on producing for the company. Fecan has been in the leadership role for the last six years, in addition to serving as the producer and an executive producer of Thunderbird-produced CBC sitcom Kim’s Convenience. Brian Paes-Braga will take over as Chair of Thunderbird’s Board of Directors, effective immediately. A large shareholder of the company, Paes-Braga has served on the Board of Directors since Oct. 2018. The entrepreneur and philanthropist is currently Principal, Head of Merchant Banking at Vancouver-based SAF Group. Read more here.

Lisa de Wilde

Lisa de Wilde is moving on from TVO when her appointed term as CEO is over at the end of the month. de Wilde has been CEO of the Ontario educational public broadcaster since 2005. She also sits on a number of boards including Telus and the Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada.

Hannah Sung

Hannah Sung has left TVO to work as an independent consultant and producer, including a forthcoming podcast for the Globe and Mail that will debut in early 2020. Sung, who has previously worked as a reporter, producer and host for the Globe, CBC and MuchMusic, had been with TVO as Manager, Digital Video and Podcast, since Jan. 2018.

Cristina Howorun

Cristina Howorun is making a gradual return to work at Citytv Toronto following a successful living donor kidney transplant three and a half months ago. Howorun, who has been with the station since 2015, was diagnosed with end stage kidney disease at the end of last year. 

Stew Kernan

Stew Kernan is back behind the mic this season as the new play-by-play voice of the Peterborough Petes on EXTRA 90.5 (CJMB-FM). Entering his 18th season calling OHL games, Kernan spent the last three years as the radio voice of the Hamilton Bulldogs and the team’s communications coordinator. Prior to that he was the radio voice of the Sudbury Wolves and news director at Rogers Radio Sudbury.

Reg Hampton

Reg Hampton is the new executive producer at Global News Calgary. Hampton, who has been with CTV Calgary for the last 13 years, previously worked for Global Vancouver from 1997 – 2006. 

Andrew Schultz

Andrew Schultz is joining Sue Deyell as the new co-host of the 770 CHQR Calgary morning show. The Morning News with Sue Deyell and Andrew Schultz launches Oct. 7. Schultz, who was most recently a co-host and weather anchor on Breakfast Television Calgary, joins the show following the retirement of Gord Gillies.  

Morgan Black

Morgan Black is joining Global Edmonton as a community reporter, covering for Margeaux Maron, who is about to go on maternity leave. Black has been working for Corus Radio Edmonton as a producer for 630 CHED and iNews880 (CHQT-AM).

Mike Lamb and Matt Gates

Matt Gates has joined Mike Lamb in the mornings on 96.1 BOB FM (CKX-FM) Brandon. Gates moves up from the afternoon drive slot. Amanda Navid continues in middays, while Darrian Wrightson moves into the drive position from weekends.
