Antony Robart, Jennifer Valentyne, Liem Vu & Marianne Dimain

Antony Robart and Jennifer Valentyne are joining the refreshed Global News Morning Toronto, starting Mar. 4. Robart, most recently co-anchor of Global News at 11, and Valentyne, who has been co-hosting mornings on Corus’ Q107 (CILQ-FM) Toronto for the past two years, will host the new show which replaces the Toronto edition of The Morning Show. Global announced in January it would be expanding the national version of The Morning Show, co-hosted by Carolyn MacKenzie and Jeff McArthur, to one hour, which makes its debut on all 15 affiliate stations in the Global network on Mar. 4 in the 9 a.m. (10 a.m. AT) time slot. Weather specialist Liem Vu and field reporter Marianne Dimain will continue to be featured on the local edition. The changes see Farah Nasser, co-anchor of Global News at 5:30 & 6, additionally anchor Global News at Noon, while Crystal Goomansingh will take on sole anchor duties for Global News at 11.

Trish Williams

Trish Williams has been appointed Executive Director, Scripted Content at CBC. Reporting to Sally Catto, General Manager, Programming, Williams will oversee the public broadcaster’s drama, comedy and film teams across all broadcast and streaming original long-form programming. Williams most recently was VP, Scripted Programming at Temple Street Productions, and was co-executive producer of drama series Killjoys. Prior to joining Temple Street, she was Director, Drama, at Bell Media, co-executive producer on Season 4 of Saving Hope and a production executive on Flashpoint.

The Canadian Press has made more layoffs, following the elimination of its video department in January. In the Atlantic bureau, Brett Bundale, Aly Thomson, Keith Doucette and Alex Cooke were casualties, while business journalist Tara Deschamps and reporter Alanna Rizza, were among those who lost their jobs in Toronto. Office admin staff were also impacted in Vancouver. Matt Gurney

Matt Gurney is among those caught up in restructuring last week at Corus Entertainment in Toronto. Gurney, host of The Edge with Matt Gurney on AM 640 (CFMJ-AM) Toronto, had been with the station since 2016. Corus confirmed a “handful of staffing changes” with the majority “off-air.”

Julia Wright

Julia Wright is taking on a new role with CBC New Brunswick as host of Information Morning Saint John. Wright has been a reporter and editor with the public broadcaster for the last two and a half years after freelancing for VICE and a stint as an associate editor with Civilized.

Brittany King and Chris Palliser

Brittany King and Chris Palliser are helming the new 107.3 Virgin Radio (CHBE-FM) Victoria morning show, following a station rebrand Friday from KOOL FM. King formerly hosted drive on the station’s KOOL incarnation, while Palliser has hosted mornings at Virgin Radio Vancouver for the past 10 years. Bailey Parker, former KiSS Victoria host, slips into King’s former role on the drive home show.

Rachel Marcus

Rachel Marcus has been promoted to VP of Creative Development at Toronto’s Guru Studio. Reporting to Guru president and executive creative director Frank Falcone, Marcus will expand her role, leading development, creative partnerships, co-productions and features. Prior to joining Guru in 2015, Marcus was at Nickelodeon where she was a producer in digital content development.

Aaron Woodley

Aaron Woodley is Knowledge Network’s new Director of Network Brands, overseeing brands and promotion for B.C’s public broadcaster. Woodley is a director and writer who has worked in both animation and live action, including stints with AIC Studios and Toonbox Entertainment. His feature debut Rhinoceros Eyes, won the Discovery Award at TIFF in 2003.

Denyse Sibley

Denyse Sibley has joined newly-rebranded Jewel 105 (CKHY-FM) Halifax as morning show announcer. Sibley has been working with Evanov Radio since last year when she joined Hot Country 103.5 (CKHZ-FM) as a station ambassador. She previously hosted mornings on FX 101.9 (CHFX-FM) Halifax.

Kent Schumaker

Kent Schumaker is joining Vista Radio on Vancouver Island, starting Mar. 4, as Regional Content Manager. Schumaker has been the PD and brand director at YL Country (CKYL-AM) and KIX FM (CKKX-FM) Peace River since 2010.

Jean-Sébastien Prénovost

Jean-Sébastien Prénovost is Quebecor Advertising Sales new programmatic lead. A newly-created position, Prenovost will manage strategy and marketing around programmatic solutions. He was most recently leading programmatics at Desjardins, and prior to that was senior account manager at TubeMogul and an advertising cloud specialist at Adobe.

Danielle McCreadie

Danielle McCreadie is joining Acadia Broadcasting’s 97.3 The Wave (CHWV-FM) and CHSJ-FM Saint John as a reporter and weekend news anchor. The University of King’s College grad had been working with News 95.7 (CJNI-FM) and online publication Halifax Today for the last few months.
