Brother-sister duo to take over 102.1 the Edge mornings

102.1 the Edge (CFNY-FM) has revealed that brother-sister duo Ruby and Alex Carr will become the permanent hosts of the station’s morning show, beginning Jan. 2019.

In what Corus is billing as a Canadian first for a radio morning show, the siblings will work together on-air for the first time.

Born in Toronto, Ruby has been the lead host of the morning show at Newcap Radio’s Z95.3 (CKZZ-FM) Vancouver for the past four and a half years and was this year’s winner of the Allan Waters Young Broadcaster of the Year Award at Canadian Music Week. She’s worked coast-to-coast, starting her career in the Halifax market with Evanov and Bell Media’s stations, including co-hosting mornings on 101.3 The Bounce (CJCH-FM).

Alex Carr comes to the Edge from middays at Corus-owned alt rock station CFOX-FM Vancouver. With a background in stand-up comedy, Alex previously held down evenings at X92.9 (CFEX-FM) Calgary.

Corus says further show details will be released at a later date.

The announcement comes following a handful of on-air changes at CFNY-FM in early August that saw Adam Ricard and Melani Mariani released from mornings and Fearless Fred moved over to sister station Q107 (CILQ-FM).
