TVA Group to acquire Incendo for $19.5M

TVA Group has announced its acquiring Montreal-based producer and television distributor Incendo for approximately $19.5 million.

With offices in Montreal, Toronto and Los Angeles, Incendo produces film, television series and documentaries for international markets. In addition to handling theatrical distribution in Quebec for Paramount Pictures, the company is also involved in a joint distribution venture with Twentieth Century Fox International Television (Fox/Incendo).

Second Opinion is among the Incendo productions nominated for a 2019 Canadian Screen Award.

Several of Incendo’s recent projects are up for 2019 Canadian Screen Awards, including medical thriller Second Opinion (Best Limited Series or Program).

France Lauzière, President and CEO of TVA Group and Chief Content Officer of Quebecor Content, said in a press release that the acquisition is part of the company’s strategic push into the Anglophone market.

“TVA Group is happy to add Incendo, a local company with an international profile known for its excellent content, to its operations,” said Lauzière. “The transaction is in keeping with our push to increase our revenues from other markets, step up our international development and expand our footprint, especially in English-language markets.”

“In what is now a global content creation industry, Incendo has succeeded for 18 years in producing and distributing, here and around the world, high-quality dramas that have been enjoyed by tens of millions of television viewers, thanks to the expertise and experience of its people, of Quebec artists and professionals, of its Canadian and international partners, and its management team,” said Jean Bureau, president of Incendo. “My team and I are very enthusiastic about joining TVA Group to continue expanding our production and export activities and accelerate our growth.”

The transaction is expected to close in the coming weeks.
