SiriusXM and TikTok have partnered to launch TikTok Radio (ch. 4), a music channel featuring trending sounds from the short-form social video app that continues to see epic growth with three billion installs globally.
The new channel, available to SiriusXM subscribers in both vehicles and to stream, is being billed as a radio version of the platform’s “For You” feed. Among the creators signed up to participate are Billy (@8illy), Cat Haley (@itscathaley), HINDZ (@hindzsight), Lamar Dawson (@dirrtykingofpop), and Taylor Cassidy (@taylorcassidyj), who’ll present music and share stories behind what’s trending each hour from viral hits to throwbacks and emerging TikTok talent.
Weekly features include “The TikTok Radio Trending Ten,” airing Friday at 3 p.m. ET, a weekly countdown of the top 10 songs trending in the TikTok community, which will replay throughout the weekend and be available on-demand on the SXM App.
TikTok Radio’s resident DJs, DJ Habibeats (@djhabibeats) and DJ CONST (@erinconstantineofficial), will also spin LIVE, simultaneously, on TikTok and TikTok Radio every Friday and Saturday, starting at 7 p.m. ET.
“Our groundbreaking new channel with TikTok is a first-of-its-kind, capturing the pulse of the global music culture, vibrancy and vitality found on the entertaining social platform and recreated as a full-time music channel on live satellite radio and our streaming platforms,” said Scott Greenstein, President and Chief Content Officer, SiriusXM, in a release. “The creators, who are also presenting the music on TikTok Radio, are deeply involved in the channel and will reflect the unique sound and personality of TikTok that is so enmeshed with today’s music culture and community. TikTok creators will be delivering new audio experiences for our listeners as they tap into the latest music trends on TikTok.”
The launch of the channel speaks to TikTok’s ability to influence interest in music made popular by its use by creators. Among the artists that can thank TikTok for a streaming revival of past hits are Jack Johnson, Fleetwood Mac, and Mother Mother, with the app increasingly relied on to break new music.
