Rogers brings Vevo to Ignite TV subscribers

Rogers is the first cable provider in Canada to bring Vevo to its subscribers.

The streaming app, hosting music video content, is now available to Rogers Ignite TV and Ignite SmartStream customers.

Best known for providing music videos to YouTube, Vevo is expanding its over-the-top (OTT) distribution to meet increasing consumer demand to stream music video content on connected TVs.

Rob Christensen, Vice-President, Advanced Television, Vevo, said in a company announcement that the Rogers partnership will also open new revenue channels.

“The launch of the Vevo app on Ignite TV and Ignite SmartStream brings our exclusive content set to more audiences,” said Christensen, in a release. “In turn, we provide new advertising opportunities for achieving incremental reach in today’s hyper-connected world, especially with younger consumers and those not watching traditional broadcast TV.”

“With the launch of the Vevo app to Ignite TV and Ignite SmartStream, we are giving our customers more ways to experience the creative visuals of their favourite artists with access to premium music videos and live performances to enjoy from the comfort of their homes,” added Eric Bruno, Rogers’ Senior Vice-President, 5G, Content and Connected Home Services. “We are proud to be Vevo’s first telecommunications partner in Canada to give our customers access to a unique musical experience.”

The Vevo catalogue encompasses hundreds of thousands of music videos from official releases to live performances, and original Vevo-produced content, including Official Live Performances by Ariana Grande, Justin Bieber and The Weeknd. Interactive features include search, like, and skip functions, and programming tailored to events, themes, or moods

Rogers’ Ignite TV and Ignite SmartStream will be able to access the Vevo app through the Ignite voice remote.
