Catherine Émond and Jean-Claude Mahé

Catherine Émond has been named Telefilm Canada’s incoming director, Public and Government Affairs. She succeeds the retiring Jean-Claude Mahé, arriving at Telefilm from Alliance Numérique, where she served as Executive Director for the past three years. Prior to that, she worked with the Quebec government as political attaché to the Minister of Culture and Communications and the Minister of Education, Sport and Leisure. Jean-Claude Mahé first started working with Telefilm in 1996 as a consultant, later appointed director of Communications and Public Affairs, and then in 2005, director, Public and Governmental Affairs. He was named Acting Executive Director this past spring when former Executive Director Carolle Brabant retired. Prior to Telefilm, he worked at the National Film Board of Canada for close to 20 years. Read more here.

Devon Soltendieck

Devon Soltendieck has left his position as senior correspondent for CTV’s eTalk. Soltendieck had been with eTalk since Aug. 2013 and with Bell Media for the last 15 years. His career began in 2004, when he won MuchMusic’s VJ Search at the age of 18. He later joined CP24 as a host in 2010. In an Instagram post, Soltendieck issued a call for collaborators saying “I’m going to be staying in content and am excited about exploring what that looks like in 2019…”

Jean-Charles Lajoie

Jean-Charles Lajoie will join TVA Sports as host of a new show, starting Jan. 14. His last day on-air at RNC Media-owned French-language station 91.9 Sports (CKLX-FM) was last Friday.

Mark Jeffries

Mark Jeffries (Theobald) has retired after almost 40 years in radio, half of that at EZ Rock (CILK-FM) Kelowna. Originally from North Vancouver, Jeffries spent his earlier career at CKLG-FM Vancouver, in addition to a stint in Terrace. Gerry O’Day will join EZ Rock on afternoon drive, plus network mid-days across the EZ Rock BC affiliates. O’Day formerly wore the hats of morning host, program director, and music director at 650 CISL-AM Vancouver.

Dominik Diamond and Donnie Richard

Dominik Diamond & Donnie Richard are no longer with JACK FM (CJAQ-FM) Calgary. They had been co-hosting the morning show since 2015.

Hal Higgins

Hal Higgins has retired from CBC Cape Breton. Higgins started his broadcasting career on Christmas Day 1978 at CJCB Radio in Sydney as a DJ. He began working at CBC in Sydney in Dec. 1980 as the morning show operator. He eventually moved into news reading and reporting, covering Cape Breton for both radio and TV..

Jenny Rodrigues

Jenny Rodrigues is saying goodbye to the Global News online team in Toronto after four years. Rodrigues is joining the communications team at her alma mater The University of Toronto.

Mark Burley

Mark Burley, former group program director for Bell Media in the B.C. Interior, is the Downtown Kelowna Association’s new executive director. Burley was with Bell Media for 12 years, up until Jan. 2017, overseeing programming for 22 stations. Most recently, he’d been working part-time at Okanagan Oldies 103.9 (CKOO-FM) Kelowna.

Janice Dickson

Janice Dickson is leaving the Canadian Press Ottawa bureau after seven years. Prior to joining CP as a parliamentary reporter, Dickson worked for iPolitics. She’ll join the Globe and Mail in January.

Megan Griffith-Greene

Megan Griffith-Greene is leaving CBC News to join philly.com as Innovation Editor. Griffith-Greene has been with CBC since 2010, most recently as a social editor with previous stints as a digital producer and associate producer on Marketplace. Prior to CBC, she was a writer and headed research at Chatelaine.
