Paul Thomas to join Corus as Toronto PD for FM radio

Longtime ZoomerMedia programmer Paul Thomas is taking on a new role with Corus Audio in the New Year.

Corus Audio has announced a management shuffle within its Ontario stations that sees Paul Thomas appointed as the division’s new Toronto Program Director for FM radio.

Thomas, who arrives from ZoomerMedia, where he served as General Manager and Program Director for The New Classical FM (CFMZ-FM) and Zoomer Radio (CFZM-AM), will oversee programming for Q107 (CILQ-FM) and 102.1 the Edge (CFNY-FM), effective Jan. 6.

Thomas, who has worked with ZoomerMedia for 17 years, is also the creator and longtime host of The New Classical FM’s classic film soundtrack show, “Pop Classics.”

“Paul is eager to continue working in a market he knows and loves,” Corus stated in an announcement Thursday. “Growing up listening to these two iconic stations is what makes working with the teams at Q107 and The Edge a ‘dream come true’; a professional goal of his since he entered Seneca’s radio broadcasting program.”

Other changes see Dave Blezard take on a new role in the New Year as co-host of the morning show on 91.5 the Beat (CKBT-FM) Kitchener, alongside Kat Callaghan. He’ll also serve as Program Manager for the Kitchener/Guelph cluster. Blezard previously held the title of Regional Program Director for Kitchener, Barrie and Collingwood.

Stephanie Hunter expands her Regional Program Director role to cover all Ontario stations, excluding Toronto. Hunter’s former remit covered Eastern Ontario.

The changes see Scott Fox, Callaghan’s longtime co-host on The Scott & Kat Show, depart the company. He had been with Corus for the last 12 years.

“As we navigate this change we want to express our gratitude and appreciation for Scott, who has been a leader and beloved radio host in the FM world for some time,” a Corus spokesperson told Broadcast Dialogue.
