Bell Media’s Newstalk 610 CKTB St. Catherines has a new weekday lineup headlined by Niagara in the Morning with Tim Denis, from 6 – 10 a.m. Matt Holmes hosts middays Mon. to Thurs., with morning news anchor Shelby Knox filling in on the Friday show. Newstalk 1010 (CFRB-AM) Toronto host Jim Richards will then be heard from noon – 2 p.m. as a placeholder for the nationally syndicated The Evan Solomon Show, which starts in its new time slot in the New Year. Tom McConnell, who had been helming mornings for the last 15 years, moves to 2 – 6 p.m. ET weekdays.

Terry Marcotte

Terry Marcotte, the longtime sports director at CTV Ottawa, is retiring. Marcotte has been with CTV for more than 32 years in roles from anchor to co-hosting Sportscall on sister station Team 1200 (CFGO-AM). Marcotte started his career as a sports reporter at CHSJ-FM Saint John, NB. Stints at CKWS-TV Kingston and CJSB-FM Swan River, MB followed before he landed at CTV Ottawa in 1987.

John J.R. Richard

John J.R. Richard, morning man and sales rep at Franco country station CJSE Shediac, NB is retiring Dec. 13. Richard’s 45-year career has included stops at CFCY Charlottetown; CKNB Campbellton, NB; CKCW, CFQM, and CBC Radio One in Moncton, NB and the now defunct CFNB Fredericton NB.

Kerry Proudfoot (aka Kerry Grace)

Kerry Proudfoot (aka Kerry Grace) has retired as afternoon drive host on 89.5 The Drive (CHWK-FM) Chilliwack, BC, capping a 32-year broadcasting career. John Vosper will join the station in early January to take on the drive time slot. Vosper arrives from hosting afternoons on 93.3 The Peak (CJAV-FM) Port Alberni. 

Dave Bates

Dave Bates will retire Dec. 31 after 33 years with Canadian Broadcast Sales’ Toronto office, and previously Target Broadcast Sales and Paul Mulvihill Ltd. Over the years, Bates also lent his time to the industry as past president of the Canadian Association of Broadcast Representatives (CABR).

Johanne Ménard and Nadège Pouyez

Johanne Ménard and Nadège Pouyez will serve in two newly-created positions at Quebecor Content. Menard has been promoted to executive director, Variety and Lifestyle, while former Tele-Quebec executive Pouyez joins the team as executive director, Fiction and Documentary.

Jane Rimer

Jane Rimer, Chief of International Business & Creative Development at Insight Productions, has departed the Toronto-based prodco to launch consultancy firm Brilliant NYC. The new venture is geared toward business planning and brand development for TV & digital. Rimer will continue to collaborate with Insight going forward.

Marisa Friesen

Marisa Friesen has joined Pacific Northwest Pictures (PNP) as director of theatrical and digital sales. Friesen was previously with Sony Pictures Releasing Canada in sales and management for the last 14 years

Hannah Wise

Hannah Wise, who has served as manager of News Labs at CBC/Radio-Canada for the last five and a half years, is looking for new opportunities after her position was part of restructuring at the public broadcaster. Wise was leading a cross-functional team that designs, develops code and collaborates with editorial teams across the country. 

Jaren Kerr

Jaren Kerr has joined Yahoo Finance Canada as an editor. Kerr left Canadaland in October to work as a senior editor with blogTO sister publication Freshdaily, which then laid off its entire editorial staff two weeks after launch.

Bridgitte Anderson

Bridgitte Anderson, who started her career as a radio and television reporter with Vancouver stations CKWX-AM, CTV, and eventually Report on Business television and CTV Toronto, has been named the first female President & CEO of the Vancouver Board of Trade. Anderson transitioned into politics in 2008 as press secretary to former BC Premier Gordon Campbell. Anderson has been with the Edelman Vancouver agency for the last eight years.
