Danny Kingsbury

Danny Kingsbury has announced his retirement from Rogers Media at the end of this year. Kingsbury has been with the company since 1999, initially serving as general manager for Rogers’ Radio stations in Ottawa, Kingston and Halifax. Since 2015, he’s been the National Format Director for Rock Radio. Kingsbury started his radio career at 1080 CKSA Lloydminster, AB in 1978, and soon moved on to CHAB Moose Jaw, SK, kicking off an 11-year run as an announcer and PD with Moffat Communications that took him to 630 CHED Edmonton and CITI FM Winnipeg. Kingsbury went on to spend one year as PD of CFNY-FM Toronto in 1989/90 before joining WIC as VP of Programming. Prior to Rogers, he was PD of 92.5 CISS-FM Toronto.

Kent Morrison

Kent Morrison has joined Global News Morning Edmonton on a permanent basis, alongside Erin Chalmers, Mike Sobel and Daintre Christensen. Morrison, who has been an anchor and reporter with the station since 2014, will also continue to anchor Global News at Noon. Morrison has been filling in on the morning show for Shaye Ganam since the longtime host’s move over to mornings on Corus Radio sister station 630 CHED earlier this month.

Raina Douris

Raina Douris has been named as the new host of NPR daily music program World Cafe. The show, which originates from WXPN, the member-supported public radio station at the University of Pennsylvania, was previously hosted by former CBC’er Talia Schlanger who is moving on to new creative endeavours. Douris’ last day as host of Mornings on CBC Radio 2 was last Friday. She’ll take up her new role on Oct. 7. Documentary filmmaker and CBC veteran Saroja Coelho moves into the host’s chair on Radio 2 for the next few months. 

Pacinthe Mattar

Pachinthe Mattar has left CBC after more than a decade with the public broadcaster. Mattar was most recently acting senior producer on CBC Radio One’s The Current. She’s also worked as an associate producer on As It Happens, in addition to CBC News Network.

Greg Stephany

Greg Stephany is retiring after 29 years in the engineering department at CHUM/CTV/Bell Media and a 43-year career in broadcasting. Stephany was most recently responsible for the Toronto radio group at 299 Queen Street West, including 99.9 Virgin Radio (CKFM-FM), Newstalk 1010 (CFRB-AM) and 104.5 CHUM FM.

Stephanie Perron

Steph Perron, who recently left her communications role at Rogers Media after eight years, has launched a new digital marketing and PR company, with partner Dani Gagnon, called BAE communications. Gagnon is a digital marketing pro who has taught the subject at Seneca College. 

Ellen Mauro

Ellen Mauro is returning to Canada after seven years as a CBC foreign correspondent and field producer in London and Washington, DC. Based in Toronto, Mauro will be a senior reporter filing for the The National and CBC World at Six.

 

Jennifer Harkness

Jennifer Harkness is joining Blue Ant Studios as SVP of Unscripted Content. In her newly-created role in the L.A. office, Harkness’s focus will be on developing, selling, and producing unscripted series for the U.S. and global markets. Previously, Harkness served as SVP of Sales & Development USA for Cream Productions. She joined Cream from Jumpwire Media, the social media agency she co-founded. She’s also served as Head of Development Factual Entertainment for Temple Street Productions and is past executive director of the Banff World Television Festival.
