Roger Ashby

Roger Ashby has announced his retirement from the CHUM 104.5 morning show after a half-century with the CHUM stations. Ashby’s last broadcast will happen Dec. 5 and aired live from the Sheraton Centre Toronto Grand Ballroom. Ashby joined CHUM on the all-night show in 1969 after starting his career at CKOC Hamilton. He eventually replaced Johnny Mitchell on the 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. shift after Mitchell moved into management. Rick Hodge and Lori Love

Rick Hodge has announced he’s retiring after 45 years in radio. For the last six years, Hodge has been co-hosting the morning show at iHeartRadio Canada station 105.7 EZ Rock (CHRE-FM) St. Catharines. His final live broadcast will be this Friday, Nov. 2, beginning at 5:30 a.m. ET. Born and raised in St. Catharines, Hodge began his on-air career in 1973 and spent over 20 years as part of the Roger, Rick & Marilyn Show on CHUM 104.5 in Toronto. Prior to joining co-host Lori Love on the 105.7 EZ Rock morning show, he also taught courses at Niagara College’s RTA broadcasting program. Read more here.

Lee Rosevere

Lee Rosevere is leaving CBC Radio One Vancouver’s Early Edition to join the public broadcaster’s P.E.I. bureau. Rosevere has been working with CBC since the late 90s, first as an associate producer on DNTO, based in Winnipeg, and as an AP/technical producer on Early Edition since 2001. Rosevere also hosted, produced and programmed Earlier on CBC Radio from 2008 – 2012 and hosted a special farewell edition on his last day, Oct. 26.

Martin Jones and Bernice Hillier

CBC Newfoundland has unveiled the full team behind its new combined regional morning show Newfoundland Morning. Bernice Hillier co-hosts from Corner Brook, while Martin Jones does the same from Gander from 6-9 a.m. NT, Monday through Friday. Teams from both bureaus are coming together to produce the show. Corner Brook staff include technical producer Brian McHugh, producer Cherie Wheeler, and VJ Colleen Connors. The Gander-based team includes producer Barry Newell, VJ Garrett Barry, reporters Jennifer Grudic and Melissa Tobin, investigative reporter Leigh Anne Power, and web writer Lindsay Bird.

Nick Moore

Nick Moore has signed off from CTV Atlantic to focus on travel. Moore joined the CTV Atlantic news team in Oct. 2010, with reporting stints in Halifax and Moncton, before moving to the Fredericton bureau in Sept. 2011.

David Reevely

David Reevely has left the Ottawa Citizen after more than 15 years to work with The Canadian Press. Reevely started Monday as a news editor with CP’s Ottawa Bureau. Reevely first joined the Citizen in 2004. For the last three years, he’s been a political columnist for Postmedia and frequent guest on CTV, CBC Radio and CPAC.

Emad Agahi

Emad Agahi has joined CTV Vancouver as a reporter. Agahi had been with the Vancouver Whitecaps FC marketing team since 2017 and before that did a stint with CTV Winnipeg.

Amra Pasic and Stephanie Irvine

Global News has hired Amra Pasic and Stephanie Irvine in the roles of Network Assignment Manager and Network Story Manager respectively, to support its Network News Desk. Pasic has previously worked with CBC Radio’s The Current, CTV National News and Al Jazeera (English). Irvine is an internal hire who has held a variety of producer and editor roles at Global Toronto, Global Calgary, 660 News (CFFR-AM) Calgary and 570 News (CKGL-AM) Kitchener.

Jim Goessinger

Jim Goessinger, who was VP of Sales for Applied Electronics Broadcast and Data Technology Division, has retired. Goessinger started his 45-year career when he joined CHCH-TV Hamilton as a Studio Assistant / VTR Operator. He advanced to the role of senior editor at CTV before he accepted the position of VP of Operations and Engineering at Soho Post for over 13 years, then VP of Operations at International Image, and president of Westdale Television for 17 years. Goessinger joined Applied Electronics in 1997 as the National Sales Manager, and was promoted to VP of Sales in 2013.

Sean Kelly

Sean Kelly has returned to mornings on Mix 97 (CIGL-FM) Belleville, ON after successfully campaigning for a seat on Belleville City Council. Ted Bradford sat in for Kelly over the last eight weeks.
