Corus Radio made layoffs across the country Tuesday including several positions at CKNW-AM Vancouver. The station’s downtown talk shows will continue to be produced from its downtown Vancouver studios, while its newsroom will be integrated into Global BC’s operation in Burnaby. Jon Hall, Jeremy Lye and Tim Dickert were swept up in the layoffs in addition to on-air personalities Chuck Evans and Nick Cino at Corus Hamilton and 92.5 Fresh (CKNG-FM) Edmonton morning show co-hosts Dani Rohs and Jay Hatton. Longtime Q107 (CILQ-FM) personality Al Joynes, Q107 PD Blair Bartrem and 102.1 the Edge (CFNY-FM) PD Ross MacLeod were also let go. Tammy Cole, senior PD at Corus Winnipeg, will assume both PD roles. In a statement provided to Broadcast Dialogue, Corus spokesperson Rishma Govani said “(Tuesday), there were a handful of changes at Corus Radio designed to maximize our content delivery. We believe our new structure will help further grow audiences across multi-platforms and position our radio brands for the future.”

Stéphane Langdeau has resigned from RDS after allegations he threatened former radio host Gary Daigneault over a Facebook post. The L’Antichambre host isn’t facing any criminal charges. Langdeau had been with RDS since 2004.
Patrick McGuire has announced he’s leaving VICE Canada after a decade. McGuire says he’s moving on to pursue a number of personal creative projects.
Denis Coderre has been tapped to advise Stingray. The former Montreal mayor will serve as a special advisor to the Montreal-headquartered digital media company as it looks to expand into international markets.
Steve Darling has announced on his Twitter page that he is leaving his anchor position at Sportsnet 650 (CISL-AM) after just seven months. Darling landed at Sportsnet in August after an unsuccessful run for the B.C. Liberals. The longtime Global BC anchor promises to reveal more details next month.
Kalin Mitchell is leaving CBC Maritimes for CTV Atlantic. Mitchell will step in to the role of chief meteorologist vacated by Cindy Day, who left CTV in late December for the Saltwire Network.
Ferne Wynnyk is the newest on-air host on Live 105 (CKHY-FM) Halifax after exiting the promotions coordinator position at 92.9 JACK FM (CFLT-FM) Halifax. Wynnyk had been in the promo position since last May, following a stint with Skywords Media doing traffic reports on News 95.7 (CJNI-FM) and other Maritime stations.
Nathan Carr, morning show host at Fresh Radio (CFLG-FM) Cornwall, is leaving for 89X (CIMX-FM) Windsor. He’ll be holding down afternoons starting in April. Carr had been with Corus Cornwall since 2011, starting out as a promotions assistant. He’s been hosting mornings since Aug. 2016.
Scott Guest, longtime APD at AM 640 (CFMJ-AM) Toronto is leaving. He’d been in the position for more than 14 years.
