Daniel Bernard

Daniel Bernhard is the new executive director and spokesperson of watchdog group Friends of Canadian Broadcasting. During a period of transition Bernhard will work with group founder Ian Morrison, who will remain on the board. Bernard is also president of Toronto firm Mushroom Cloud consulting.

Jack Latimer

Jack Latimer has hung up his headphones after nearly half a century on-air. “Mr. Orillia” has been hosting weekday mornings at CFOR Orillia since 1993, but began his career with the station as a high school football reporter. He later landed a job at CKMP-FM Midland, returning to Orillia in 1973 and then venturing into management which took him to Timmins, North Bay, and Simcoe County. Latimer also has a successful real estate career which he’ll continue in retirement.

Portia Clark

Portia Clark will take over from the retiring Don Connolly, as the new co-host of CBC Radio’s Information Morning for mainland Nova Scotia. Clark, who hails from the province’s South Shore, began her career at CBC Halifax, before moving to CBC Edmonton.

Clark co-hosted Edmonton AM and had an eight-year run anchoring CBC Edmonton’s supper-hour newscast, before her current role as host of afternoon drive show Radio Active.

Matt Frehner and Jason Chiu will be helming the Globe and Mail’s new Visual Journalism department. Frehner has been in various role at the Globe since 2008 and Chiu in art direction and presentation since 2009. The department is actively taking pitches for diverse visual stories from across the country.

Ron Kronstein

Ron Kronstein, evening anchor at Global Halifax, is leaving to become news director at CHEX-TV Peterborough. Kronstein moves into the role at the end of February. Kronstein has previously done host, producer and anchor stints at CTV Atlantic and CKY-TV Winnipeg, before a decade-long stint in Army Public Affairs. 

Gillian Proudfoot

Gillian Proudfoot has left the promotions department at C100 (CIOO-FM) and 101.3 Virgin Radio (CJCH-FM) Halifax to join Dash Hudson as a brand strategist. Proudfoot had been with Bell Media Halifax since 2013 in various roles from morning show producer to assistant music director.

Dave Jackson

Dave Jackson is joining News 1130 (CKWX-AM) Vancouver as a part-time news anchor, with regular shifts on weekend afternoons. Jackson was previously a producer and news writer for CBC and Global in Vancouver before moving into creative and production with Info Chip Communications and Spot On Digital Marketing.
