Pattison Media lays off three per cent of workforce

Pattison Media has laid off about three per cent of its workforce, encompassing on-air and behind-the-scenes talent in Vancouver, Calgary, and Winnipeg among other markets.

“The impact is roughly three per cent of our total workforce and is a result of challenging ratings in some of our most competitive markets, and softer than expected national revenues,” Pattison Media President Rod Schween told Broadcast Dialogue in an email.

Bo Gordon and Jessica Hoy, the morning show team on 101.5 Today Radio (CKCE-FM) Calgary, announced their departures from the company earlier this week.

Other casualties include Christy & Fraser (Christy Farrell and Fraser Tuff), who initially were heard on Wild 95.3 (CKWD-FM) and 101.5 Today Radio in Calgary, before moving to Vancouver to help launch NOW! radio (CKPK-FM) in that market; Denai Johnson, who had been heard in afternoon drive on NOW! Vancouver; and AJ (Ashley) Pirhonen, the afternoon personality at 89.5 JR FM (CHWK-FM) Chilliwack.

Alyssa Petryshyn and Luca James have also disappeared from afternoon drive on 94.3 NOW! radio (CHNW-FM) in Winnipeg.

Matt Di Paola, afternoon drive co-host and Music Director at Wild 95.3 Calgary, is no longer with the station. Logan Gosling continues in afternoons solo.

More to come.
