Online & Digital Media News – Black Press sale completed

Black Press, whose publishing portfolio includes more than 80 community news outlets in Canada, has announced the completion of its previously-announced sale to Canso Investment Counsel Ltd., Deans Knight Capital Management Ltd. and Carpenter Media Group as part of the company’s restructuring under the Creditors Arrangement Act. Black Press says it emerges from those proceedings “on solid and sustainable financial footing, enabling it to continue publishing impactful local journalism and providing outstanding advertising solutions.” Under terms of the transaction, the company remains Canadian-controlled and headquartered in Surrey, B.C.

Village Media has unveiled a revamped, redesigned Oakville News, which it acquired last month. Oakville News is Village Media’s 23rd owned-and-operated local news site in Ontario, joining neighbouring sites BurlingtonToday, HaltonHillsToday, FlamboroughToday and the soon-to-be-live MiltonToday.
