Lina Kim succeeds Jean-Marie Heimrath as president of TPX

Lina Kim has been named president at The Podcast Exchange (TPX) as founding CEO Jean-Marie Heimrath announces his retirement after a long career encompassing almost every facet of the audio industry from the music business to radio and syndication.

Kim was formerly Managing Director at Havas Media Group and previously sat on the board of directors of The Advertising Club of Toronto.

Heimrath plans to remain on the TPX board, providing counsel and guidance, but has relinquished the position of chairman to Ian Lurie, President, Radio at Stingray, which acquired a 30% stake in TPX in 2020.

Heimrath founded TPX, a Canadian trailblazer in the podcast monetization space, in 2017. Since then, it’s grown its partnerships to include Acast, Art19, Corus Entertainment, iHeartMedia, Megaphone, Stitcher advertising arm Midroll, and Quebecor, among other companies. More recently, the company expanded into branded content and development.

Founding TPX followed a more than four-decade career for Heimrath that started in the music industry as a Promotions Manager for Island & Daffodil Records. Gigs with Capitol, Arista, Polygram, and MCA Music Canada followed, before Heimrath transitioned into broadcasting as the Communications and Promotions Director for Telemedia and CJCL Radio. He went on to hold numerous executive positions with Standard Broadcasting, including serving as President of Sound Source Networks and Orbyt Media for 21 years, starting in 1988.

He concurrently was a founder and partner in Toronto’s Clear Channel Group for 35 years, later going on to serve as president of audio licensing and distribution company, SparkNetworks. He’s also widely consulted for companies including Slaight Music, Groupe Média TFO, and Los Angeles-based Jumpwire Media.

“It’s time to transfer the leadership to someone I believe will take TPX to new areas of growth, and that person is Lina,” said Heimrath. “Lina is the perfect candidate to lead TPX, having served in senior leadership capacities in both the advertising and digital space.”
