At Whiteoaks, creativity is how we connect people. We’re looking for a Junior Copywriter to join our team and help craft compelling content across on-air, digital, and brand channels. Overview

As a Junior Copywriter, you’ll write clear, engaging copy for client advertising campaigns, station promotions, content marketing, and brand initiatives across all Whiteoaks brands. You’ll also play a key role in Content Calendar Management, helping to plan, maintain, and schedule content for newsletters, social media, and promotional campaigns.

This is a full-time, permanent hybrid role based out of our Oakville location, with up to two remote workdays per week. Occasional travel to our Hamilton location will also be required based on operational needs.

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Group Creative Director, the duties and responsibilities of the Junior Copywriter include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Write on-air commercial scripts for clients across all stations: Legend 102.9, JOY Radio, 610 CKTB, Dream 105.7 and 97.7 HTZ-FM.
  • Develop promotional copy for station campaigns, contests, and initiatives.
  • Create copy for newsletters, articles, blog posts, and website content.
  • Write engaging social media copy for campaigns and brand content.
  • Craft copy for sales kits, pitch decks, sponsorship packages, and marketing materials.
  • Support brand campaigns with messaging, taglines, and narrative development.
  • Adapt tone and voice to align with the brand, audience, and station format.
  • Collaborate with creative, marketing, and sales teams to develop campaign messaging.
  • Edit and refine copy based on feedback and direction.
  • Ensure all written content aligns with brand voice, positioning, and standards.
  • Plan, maintain, and schedule content for newsletters, social media, and promotional campaigns, including daily content entry and scheduling for contests and events.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in either English/English Literature, Professional/Creative Writing, Journalism, Communications/Media Studies, Marketing or a related field.
  • One (1) – Two (2) years of experience in copywriting, content creation, or a related field (internships or freelance work count!).
  • Strong understanding of social media platforms and trends.
  • Familiarity with content management systems (CMS) and scheduling tools (e.g., Basecamp, WordPress, Sprout Social).
  • Excellent grammar, proofreading, and editing skills.
  • Ability to adapt tone and style to different brands and audiences.
  • Basic knowledge of marketing principles and content strategy.

  • Tech-Savvy: Comfortable using tools like Microsoft Office, Basecamp, WordPress, social media platforms (e.g. Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn, etc.), and the ability to pick up new systems quickly.

  • Annual Salary range $43,000 – $45,000. Final base salary will be commensurate with experience.
