We have two immediate openings for the position of a part-time Video Journalist.

CHCH News is a multiplatform organization serving the dynamic and rapidly growing regions of Hamilton, Halton, and Niagara. We genuinely care about our community and about working in an environment that allows each of us to bring our best selves to work.

Key Responsibilities and Duties: 

  • Gather, shoot, edit, and present insightful, accurate, and engaging news stories for broadcast and digital
  • Generate local and regional on-air content for our TV shows and for digital platforms
  • Shoot video, take photos, and report news as it happens, including live TV
  • Identify multimedia storytelling opportunities while covering events that will enhance the station’s coverage and content across all platforms
  • Operate ENG equipment and accessories for news gathering
  • Develop story ideas for inclusion in news shows
  • Develop and maintain contacts
  • Other duties as requiredMust be available to work weekends as well as select overnight and weekday shifts
  • Additional backup shift opportunities for candidates with Writer, Lineup Editor and Producer experience

Qualifications and Skills: 

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • At least one year of experience as a video journalist, with live television news experience
  • A working knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro would be an asset
  • A degree or diploma in Journalism or a relevant field is required.
  • Strong interviewing, writing, and editing skills
  • Possess a demonstrable history of working in various social media platforms
  • A working knowledge of ENPS would be an asset
  • Superior organizational, spelling, and grammar skills
  • Ability to work in a live broadcast environment
  • A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
