Investigative podcast Russia Rising newest offering on Corus Curiouscast network

Russia Rising, an investigative series hosted by Jeff Semple, the former Europe Bureau Chief for Global News, is the latest podcast to join Corus Entertainment’s Curiouscast slate, starting Monday, Jan. 28.

The seven-part original investigative series takes listeners inside Vladimir Putin’s Russia and its evolution from tenuous ally to potential global threat. The podcast’s interview subjects include Russian trolls, Putin supporters and a former Russian KGB spy.

Based in London since 2013, initially as a freelancer and then digital/video journalist for CBC, Semple joined Global News in 2015 as a foreign correspondent for the national network. His award-winning reporting has included the war against ISIS in Iraq, Victory Day in Russia, terrorist attacks in Europe and the refugee crisis in the Middle East. Earlier this month, Semple returned to Toronto and is now working for Global as a senior network reporter.

“Russia is a hugely important country, but I think it’s also deeply misunderstood,” said Semple. “I’m looking forward to taking Curiouscast listeners on a journey inside Putin’s Russia to hear directly from the people at the heart of its biggest stories.”

New episodes of Russia Rising will be released every Monday.
