Harvard Media promotes internally as part of digital-first evolution

Harvard Media has made a series of internal promotions as the company continues its digital-first evolution.

John J. Jordan

Announced earlier this month, the internal promotions are led by John Jordan, who adds Chief Product Officer to his title, in addition to retaining his current role as Chief Digital Officer. Jordan is now responsible for all Harvard Media product divisions, serving on the company’s senior leadership team and reporting to Managing Partner George Leith. Jordan joined Harvard last year from TownNews, where he served as VP, Partner Success and Product. His background includes eight years as Director of Digital Revenue Development at McClatchy.

“John has proven over the past 11 months his digital and product acumen is second to none from his many executive leadership roles over the past 35 years with major U.S. media organizations,” said Leith, in a company announcement. “I am pleased to expand John’s oversight of all products at Harvard Media, as we evolve to become Canada’s leading digital-first media company it just makes sense to have our head of digital oversee all products.”

Danny Kid

Danny Kid has been elevated to the role of Vice President of Local Media, overseeing Harvard’s Cruz branded stations and Regina’s 104.9 The Wolf (CFWF-FM). He joins Jim McCourtie, Vice President of Local Media for the company’s Play and X stations in Alberta and Saskatchewan. Harvard says the dual leadership structure will enable increased focus on developing and enhancing their “enterprise brands.”

“This change is designed to transform Harvard Media into a robust, multi-channel powerhouse, encompassing not just broadcasting, but also our growing family of websites, digital streams, and a strong social media presence,” the company said in a statement. “With Danny and Jim at the helm, we are confident in our ability to navigate this transformation seamlessly.”

Brad Bazin, Director of Local Media for Harvard’s Saskatchewan AM stations, will now directly report to Jordan, along with Kid and McCourtie.

Zoe Vassos

Zoe Vassos, who has held various promotions and marketing roles over the last 13 years, has been promoted to Director of Experiences, as the company strategically restructures its product teams “for a more impactful market presence.”

Kris Mazurak joins the company as the new Director of Local Media & Experience Products, arriving from Stingray Calgary, where he was a Marketing Consultant.

Madison Sabourin is promoted to Director of Excelerate and Interactive Products. Sabourin has been with Harvard just nine months and moves up from a Customer Success role.

Kim Carson, a longtime X92.9 (CFEX-FM) Calgary Promotions Coordinator, among other stations, is upped to Director of Audience & Product Marketing.

Alex Smith has been promoted to Director of Growth, overseeing customer success and training, while also managing elements of the company’s revenue operations.
