Corus brings podcasts to radio in new weekly show

Corus Entertainment plans to bring featured podcasts to radio in a new weekly, national show, debuting Saturday, July 24.

Hosted by Chris “Dunner” Duncombe, Corus’ Director of Podcasting and Streaming, The Curiouscast Podcast Hour will feature a different podcast episode each week. The show will be heard weekends in varying evening and afternoon time slots on 980 CKNW Vancouver, 770 CHQR Calgary, 630 CHED Edmonton, 680 CJOB Winnipeg, 900 CHML Hamilton, 980 CFPL London and Global News Radio 640 (CFMJ-AM) Toronto.

“For years our news talk radio stations have been editing audio from radio shows to create daily podcasts and now we’re taking original podcast content and showcasing it on radio,” said Larry Gifford, National Director of Talk Radio, Corus Entertainment, in a company announcement. “The Curiouscast Podcast Hour combines the artistry of a captivating audio storytelling while helping listeners discover new podcasts that they can follow and explore other episodes on their own.”

“I have always been fascinated by stories and storytellers from journalists to some of the most creative minds in science fiction. They tell our history, reveal hidden truths, and take us on adventures we could simply could have never imagined,” added Duncombe. “On this show, we’re going to bring you a different story every week from some of the best Curiouscast podcasts – with topics ranging from crime to world politics, and history to music, to hopefully turn you onto your next favourite new podcast.”

The Curiouscast network launched in 2018 and is home to podcasts like The Ongoing History of New Music, Crime Beat, Dark Poutine, History of the 90’s, Global News’ What Happened To, and new fiction adventure podcasts Escaping Denver and Marsfall.
