The NBA has renewed its Canadian media rights agreements with Sportsnet and TSN, as a prior deal with Amazon Prime Video takes effect that for the first time in Toronto Raptors history will see games move behind a paywall.
Amazon’s global 11-year rights deal with Prime Video, announced late last year, includes exclusive regular-season games, the Emirates NBA Cup, the Play-In Tournament, and select playoff and Conference Finals in Canada, marking the introduction of exclusive streaming-only regular-season Raptors games. Two games this season won’t be available on traditional carriers.
Additionally, Prime Video in Canada is offering NBA League Pass, the NBA’s subscription service for streaming live and on-demand games.
Sportsnet and TSN both announced 10-year rights extensions late Friday, through the 2035-36 season.
In line with the league’s 11-year U.S. television deals, a Sportsnet spokesperson told Broadcast Dialogue that the Canadian renewals mirror the previous agreements that see games split between the two networks.
