CTV News has announced that Marieke Walsh is joining its Ottawa Bureau, where she’ll serve as Deputy Bureau Chief.
The network says Walsh will provide additional leadership support, in addition to delivering breaking news and political coverage as a regular cross-platform contributor. She’ll also host a weekly podcast and act as a fill-in anchor.
“I am thrilled to join the storied CTV National News’ Ottawa News Bureau and the incredible team of journalists who work tirelessly to bring the issues that matter most to the doorstep of power on Parliament Hill,” said Walsh, in the network announcement. “It is an immense privilege to wake up every day and do a job I love so much, and I’m grateful to CTV News for this amazing opportunity.”
“Marieke Walsh is a highly respected political journalist whose experience, leadership, and commitment to impactful reporting makes her an outstanding addition to our Ottawa Bureau team,” added Richard Gray, VP News, Bell Media. “Her deep understanding of Canada’s political landscape and exceptional editorial judgement will bolster our coverage from the nation’s capital. With Marieke as a key part of the team, we will continue to deliver the trusted news that Canadians expect.”
Walsh arrives from The Globe and Mail, where she’s been the senior political reporter since 2022. With the The Globe since 2019, her previous roles include serving as a Queen’s Park correspondent for iPolitics, and six years with Global News, starting out as a producer on The West Block with Tom Clark. She went on to cover the Nova Scotia Legislature for Global Halifax.
