Disney+ licenses five Quebec series to stream in Canada

Quebecor Content has announced details of a new licensing agreement with Disney+ that will bring five Quebec productions to the platform for streaming in Canada.

The original series, distributed by TVA Distribution, include 10-episode drama Chaos (Amalga); drama Mégantic (Also Productions), based on real-life events of the 2013 train disaster; six-episode, one-hour series Son of Mine (Duo Productions); and limited espionage series IXE-13: Racing for the Uranium (Sphère Média) already available to stream, while escape drama Mouse Trap (Duo Productions) will join the platform soon.

Quebecor says the agreement increases the exposure of Quebec talent, while also enriching the Disney+ line-up with high-quality, French-language content.

“We’re incredibly proud to see these five standout Quebec series join the Disney+ catalogue,” said Luana Ann Church, Quebecor Content’s Vice-president, Development, Acquisitions and Distribution. “Showcasing them  allows global audiences to experience the full depth, authenticity and creative force of our storytelling.”

“This collaboration with Quebecor Content allows us to expand our French-language offering with five incredible local shows,” added Jason Badal, Vice President & General Manager Disney+ Canada. “Quebec storytelling creates a deep connection with viewers and we are delighted to give them a home on Disney+ for  viewers across Canada to enjoy.”
