Rob Fai named Corus Radio’s new national weekend morning host

Veteran broadcaster Rob Fai has been named the host of Corus Radio’s new national weekend morning show as Ben O’Hara-Byrne moves over to Global BC’s Legislative Bureau in Victoria.

Fai, who has been a host on Corus’ flagship news/talk station CKNW Vancouver since 2023, will take up his new role the weekend of March 21. The network says the show will continue to focus “on delivering the most current and up-to-date news to listeners, with live call-ins, debate, and colour commentary.”

Fai is well known to listeners in Lower Mainland B.C. as a former sportscaster on 1130 NewsRadio (CKWX-AM), and his 14-year run on TSN 1040 (CKST-AM) in the market, prior to Bell Media pulling the plug on the format in Vancouver in 2021. He concurrently was the play-by-play voice of the Vancouver Canadians for 13 years, broadcasting more than 1,000 games from Nat Bailey Stadium.

Ben O’Hara-Byrne

Ben O’Hara‑Byrne officially rejoins Global News as B.C. Legislative Anchor and Reporter, based in Victoria, on March 16. He steps into the role vacated by Richard Zussman, who stepped away from Global last November to join global PR firm, Burson, as Vice President, Public Affairs, British Columbia. Zussman had been a Legislative Reporter with Global since 2018.

O’Hara-Byrne started working with Corus Radio in January 2022 with the launch of national weeknight program, A Little More Conversation with Ben O’Hara-Byrne. The longtime political reporter moved into the national weekend morning show time slot last summer.

Born and raised in Montreal, O’Hara-Byrne began his broadcasting career in radio in Quebec City before moving into TV as a reporter with Global in Montreal and Toronto, Global National in Ottawa, and Beijing as the network’s Asia Correspondent. He made the leap to CTV News in 2010 as Asia Bureau Chief and later held the same role in London. He returned to Canada in 2015, anchoring the 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. newscasts for CHEK News Victoria for four years and contributing as a columnist to Star Metro Vancouver. He’s also done work for the British Columbia Investment Management Corporation (BCI) in External Stakeholder Engagement.
