Pluto TV expands horror channels with ‘House of Horror’ campaign

Pluto TV is expanding its horror genre offerings through the end of October with its “House of Horror” campaign.

Launching in international markets, including Canada, the UK, Austria, Brazil, France, Germany, Italy, Mexico, Nordics, Spain, and Switzerland, Pluto TV is collectively adding more than 100 horror-themed channels and 1200+ hours of fresh content through Nov. 3 with a line-up of new and returning horror content.

New channels include those dedicated to iconic horror sagas and sub-genres like zombies, creature features, haunted houses, and classic terror. A new content deal with Lionsgate will also make franchises like SAW and The Grudge available, alongside cult classics like American Psycho. Viewers in Canada will additionally be able to watch Wes Craven slasher films Scream (I – IV) on the MovieSphere channel by Lionsgate. Single-series channels include Scare Tactics, Ghost Hunters, Z Nation and The Outer Limits.

According to data provided by Pluto TV, the horror genre is experiencing a rise in global popularity, particularly among younger audiences. Horror fans primarily range in age from 25–44, with the exception of Italy and Spain, where the largest demo is 45–54 (24%). Fans skew slightly male, except in Sweden and Norway where female fans are the majority (51%). Pluto TV says about one-third of consumers in markets it surveyed, identify as horror fans, with Mexico leading affinity for the genre at 54%, followed by Sweden (37%) and Brazil (34%).

“Horror has always had a passionate fanbase, but what we’re seeing now is a global surge in demand that spans generations, formats, and cultures,” said Katrina Kowalski, Senior Vice President, International Content Strategy & Acquisitions at Pluto TV. With House of Horror, we’re not just responding to that trend, we are part of it, curating the largest and most diverse horror offering in FAST space -all while staying true to Pluto TV’s promise: free, easy, and endlessly entertaining.”
