Christian Hall out at Rogers Sports & Media

Veteran programmer Christian Hall has parted ways with Rogers Sports & Media.

Hall confirmed to Broadcast Dialogue that he was restructured this week, writing in a post to X that he was proud of the work he accomplished while with the network.

Hall joined Rogers’ radio division in August 2021 as National Content Director for the JACK FM brand, encompassing JACK 96.9 (CJAX-FM) Vancouver and (CJAQ-FM) Calgary, JACK 102.3 (CHST-FM) London, JACK 92.9 (CFLT-FM) Halifax, JACK 103.1 (CHTT-FM) Victoria, JACK 92.3 (CJET-FM) Smiths Falls, and JACK 102.1 (CJCY-FM) Medicine Hat. He also served as Content Director for JACK FM Vancouver & KiSS RADiO (CKKS-FM), the latter of which was infamously rebranded as SONiC in 2022.

A Rogers Sports & Media spokesperson said Hall’s departure is part of changes the company is making to the local radio leadership team in Vancouver to help improve performance in the market.

Prior to joining Rogers, he held the title of VP, Brands & Content for Harvard Broadcasting’s 13 stations across Alberta and Saskatchewan. With Harvard starting in 2006, he assumed roles from National Program Manager to serving as the founding program director at X92.9 (CFEX-FM) Calgary for 15 years.

Hall was voted Program Director of the Year (Large Market) in last year’s Broadcast Dialogue Canadian Radio Awards.

It has been a tumultuous year for both SONiC and JACK FM Vancouver with numerous talent moves as Rogers parted ways with the Drex on JACK morning show, SONiC morning show host Angela Valiant, and SONiC afternoon drive (and briefly JACK FM) hosts Carly & Jay, as well as longtime music curator Corbet Rutzer.

Christian Hall and Angela Valiant were guests on Broadcast Dialogue – The Podcast in 2022, following the SONiC RADiO rebrand which won the Canadian Radio Award that year for Best On-Air Promotion. Listen to that episode here:
