Ivana Bombardieri to be recognized by Radio Trailblazers

Ivana Bombardieri, who has been a presence on Montreal’s CFMB AM 1280 for more than five decades, is the recipient of this year’s Rosalie Award, annually presented by the Radio Trailblazers recognizing a woman who has blazed new trails in radio.

Bombardieri first joined the multilingual station, which is now owned by Evanov Communications, at the age of 15. Born in Turin, she has hosted Italian-language program “Buon Pomeriggio” since 1972.

Named for legendary CKLW Windsor music director Rosalie Trombley, the Rosalie Award recognizes individuals who embody the spirit of innovation, leadership, and compassion in their field.

Trailblazers chairperson Nancy Brown Dacko said Bombardieri exemplifies those qualities in every aspect of her work.

“Throughout her career, Ivana has demonstrated a remarkable commitment to excellence and fostering positive change within the radio industry,” said Brown Dacko, in an announcement. “She was instrumental in developing the first prototype for the 40+ ethnic radio stations in Canada. From her fundraising projects to her tireless advocacy efforts, Ivana has left an indelible mark on the community, inspiring us all.”

“This award is a well-deserved recognition of Ivana’s outstanding contributions and serves as a testament to her passion and tenure within the industry,” she added.

Bombardieri will receive her award at Radiodays North America in June.
