Corus releases on-air staff ahead of format flip at Winnipeg’s Peggy @ 99.1

Corus Entertainment has released its on-air staff at its Winnipeg Soft AC station, Peggy @ 99.1 (CFPG-FM), ahead of a format flip.

The station had been carrying its current format – that spans hits from Blondie and Doug and the Slugs to The Verve, Usher and Bryan Adams – since December 2016.

Peggy @ 99.1 posted on its social media accounts on Monday that the station had “said good-bye” to morning man Tom McGouran (who had just joined the station in July), midday host Colleen Rusholme (who is also heard in mornings on Corus’ boom 99.7 Ottawa and Big 101 Barrie) and afternoon drive host Frank Andrews.

“We appreciate their contributions during their time with the station and wish them all the best. Stay tuned for a whole new sound coming to Winnipeg soon,” the post continued.

A Corus spokesperson told Broadcast Dialogue that the move “is part of the number of changes in our audio business that have been made as a result of continued enterprise efficiency reviews.”

“We are continuously working to improve workflows and invest in roles that better position us for the future,” the spokesperson wrote in an email.

Over the summer, those efficiencies included restructuring of Corus Audio management.

In the the most recent diary ratings, Peggy @ 99.1 had earned a 4.7% share of hours tuned, A12+, and the same share with women 25-54. It captured 3.4% of listeners, A25-54.

Corus has not disclosed when the planned format flip is set to take place.
