Online & Digital Media News – fuboTV officially available on Samsung Smart TVs

fuboTV is officially available on Samsung Smart TVs via the fuboTV app. Through the app, viewers can access premium sports and entertainment content including OneSoccer and beIN Sports, featuring coverage of the Canadian Premier League, Canadian National Men’s Soccer and Ligue 1 as well as CBC and Paramount Network, among other channels. The app is compatible with Samsung Smart TV models released from 2017 through 2021, with 2022 models expected to be added shortly. Subscribers can also download fuboTV’s app on Android and iOS mobile, Amazon Fire TV, Android TV, Apple TV, Chromecast, Roku or on the web.

Wake Me When I’m Free, and Array of Stars, a Cannes Lion-winning digital experience studio with clients like Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment, has entered into a strategic relationship to map, develop, and architect platforms for the future of live experiences across multiple channels. Round Room Live plans to develop, design and execute narrative-focused events in both the physical and virtual space, with a focus on Web 3.0, cryptocurrency, NFTs, and the metaverse. Specializing in transforming intellectual property into live events, Round Room’s Immersive and Entertainment Experiences division is currently touring: Jurassic World: The Exhibition, Mandela: The Official Exhibition and Tupac Shakur. Wake Me When I’m Free, which opened in Los Angeles in January. 

QYOU Media, which is headquartered in Toronto, but produces and distributes content created by social media stars and digital content creators in India, has reported record breaking quarterly revenue of approximately $5.7M, representing a year-over-year increase of nearly 500% and a quarter-over-quarter increase of over 20%. QYOU’s newly-launched The Q Marathi, the company’s Marathi language youth-oriented channel is now available to over 84 million Marathi speaking India TV households, while its Hindi language youth oriented channel, reaches over 122 million TV households and 676 million users via OTT, mobile and app-based platforms in India. 

PressProgress is hosting a virtual event on March 29 called Punching Above Our Weight: The Outsized Impact of Canadian Independent Media that will take a look at where journalism is heading and how independent media outlets are punching above their weight. The event will be moderated by Emily Leedham, PressProgress’ Prairies reporter and editor of PressProgress’ weekly national labour newsletter Shift Work, who will be joined by panelists: Saima Desai, Editor of Briarpatch Magazine, a national magazine of grassroots politics based in Regina; André Goulet, Executive Director of the Harbinger Media Network, an independent media non-profit amplifying the voices of leftist media creators; Kevin Taghabon, Editor at The Hoser, whose reporting focuses on labour, police violence and protests and demonstrations in Toronto; and Mel Woods, Associate Culture Editor at non-profit LGBTQ2S+ online publication, Xtra Magazine.
