Nick Kypreos and Doug MacLean have announced they are both parting ways with Sportsnet.
In a post to Kypreos’ social platforms this morning, the former NHL left winger, expressed gratitude for the last 21 years with the network.
“After much consideration, Sportsnet and I have decided to part ways. I am proud to have been part of our growth since we launched in October of 1998 and thankful they took a chance on me so long ago. I am truly grateful to have had twenty-one years of a post playing career. From covering Sid’s golden goal in Vancouver to a Saturday night seat on Hockey Night in Canada; I could not have asked for more.
Most of all, I would like to offer a sincere thank you to the hockey fans. Simply put, hockey is nothing without you. I’ve felt your passion since day one.
My family and I are excited for the projects and adventures that will occupy the next phase of our lives. Until we meet again…Kyper.”
Kypreos has been with Sportsnet since 1998 as an analyst and NHL insider, including appearances on Hockey Night in Canada and Hockey Central. He also co-hosted Hockey Central at Noon on Sportsnet 590 The FAN (CJCL-AM). Kypreos has also appeared as an analyst on TSN, most notably during the 2010 Winter Olympics.

Born in Toronto, Kypreos played in the NHL for eight seasons after being signed as a free agent by the Philadelphia Flyers. He went on to play with the Washington Capitals, Hartford Whalers, and was a member of the 1994 Stanley Cup champion New York Rangers. His pro career ended in the 1997 pre-season as a Toronto Maple Leaf following a concussion sustained in a fight with Rangers’ player Ryan VandenBussche. He finished his NHL career with 46 goals, 44 assists, 90 points, and 1,210 penalty minutes in 442 regular season games.

Following several NHL and AHL coaching and GM positions, including leading the Florida Panthers to the Eastern Conference championship in 1996, MacLean started with Sportsnet co-hosting talk radio show The Game Plan, alongside Jack Armstrong on Sportsnet The Fan 590. He took over the Hockey Central radio show the following year and later became co-host of Hockey Central at Noon, with Kypreos and Darren Millard. He also served as an analyst on Sportsnet’s Hockey Central.
