Alicia Barin

Alicia Barin has been appointed the CRTC Regional Member for Quebec. Her five-year term will begin Aug. 11. Barin was formerly a key member of Astral Media’s senior management team from 2003-13, where she provided strategic and regulatory advice and also had direct involvement in major operating and regulatory initiatives, service launches and business acquisitions. Since 2013, she’s worked in corporate affairs for ÆCO Project Management Inc. and Barin Architecture + Design.

Larry Gifford

Larry Gifford has been named National Director of AM Radio for Corus Entertainment. Gifford will remain based in Vancouver where he’s been serving as program director for 980 CKNW and AM 730 (CHMJ-AM) since 2016.

Colleen Rusholme

Colleen Rusholme is making the move to Ottawa to join boom 99.7 (CJOT-FM) as the new co-host on Morgan in the Morning. Rusholme arrives from Corus Radio sister station Energy 95.3 (CING-FM) Hamilton. She counts morning show roles on EZ Rock, boom Toronto, and Q107, among the stations on her 23-year radio resume. Rusholme’s first day with boom 99.7 will be July 2.

Catherine Hansen

Catherine Hansen is leaving CKPG Prince George after close to two decades in the newsroom. Hansen started with the station in 2001 and has held roles from reporting and anchoring to crafting documentaries and hosting QuizMe. Hansen is joining the CBC’s Prince George bureau as senior producer.

Morganne Campbell

Morganne Campbell is joining Global Toronto as a Digital Broadcast Journalist/ Videojournalist, starting July 2. Campbell arrives from Global New Brunswick where she’s primarily been covering the provincial legislature for the last year and a half. Prior to making the move to the Maritimes, Campbell was a videographer and assignment editor with CKWS-TV Kingston, in addition to stints at CTV Barrie and CHEX News Peterborough.

Andrea Dion

Andrea Dion is leaving Global Halifax for another opportunity outside the province. Dion has been a weather specialist and co-host of Global News Morning Halifax for the last three and a half years.

Shawn Churchill

Shawn Churchill is leaving CTV Winnipeg where he’s been sports director for the last 19 years. He’s also appeared on numerous TSN broadcasts over the years. Churchill was inducted into the Manitoba Sportswriters and Sportscasters Association Media Roll of Honour in 2016. His last day is Friday, June 21.

Dana Thompson

Dana Thompson has left Hot Country 105 (CKHZ-FM) Halifax for a yet-to-be disclosed opportunity in British Columbia. Thompson had been co-hosting the Hot Country 105 morning show, alongside Ian Robinson, since Sept. 2015.

Deb Rent

Deb Rent has joined Evanov Halifax as promotions director. Rent was most recently in sales with Newcap Halifax after a career in radio news that included four years as news director of the MBS Radio network.

Cristina Howorun

Cristina Howorun, who has been a reporter with CityNews Toronto since 2015, is recovering after undergoing a living donor kidney transplant. Howorun was diagnosed with end stage kidney disease in 2018. Watch her report on her ongoing health battle here.

Marie-Hélène Pelletier

Marie-Hélène Pelletier has been promoted as Videotron’s vice-president, Human Resources and chief of Business Model Evolution. Pelletier had been VP, Procurement since Sept. 2015

Patrick White

Patrick White is now officially a Professor of Journalism with the L’Université du Québec à Montréal School of Media. White has been teaching classes at UQAM since last year. White established HuffPost Québec in 2011 after working with CTV National News, Reuters, The Canadian Press(CP) French service, Journal de Québec (where he served as news director), and French online portal Canoe.ca, in addition to CKRL-FM and CHYZ-FM.

Alisha Sawhney

Alisha Sawhney is joining Huff Post Canada on a permanent basis as an associate editor with the audience team. Sawhney had been a freelancer with the publication since late 2017.

Kathryn Tindale

Kathryn Tindale is joining News 1130 (CKWX-AM) Vancouver as a reporter and web editor. Tindale is a recent graduate of the Langara Journalism program.

Kurt Krinke

Kurt Krinke is the new VP of Sales – Broadcast Solutions in North America for Arvato Systems. Krinke joined Arvato Systems as senior director of U.S. Sales in 2017. Prior to that, he was director of Sales for Avid Technology, where he spent 14 years. Krinke will take responsibility for the entire North American-based sales team across the U.S. and Canada.
