Western Association of Broadcasters (WAB) has announced that it won’t host its annual conference for the second year in a row, opting instead to focus on bringing the Banff event back in 2022.
“Many associations have been challenged by this pandemic and COVID-19,” said Glenn Ruskin, WAB President, in an announcement released Monday. “The WAB and our annual conference is no different.”
The WAB board of directors has made the decision to cancel the 2021 WAB Conference scheduled for June 9-10, following guidance from agencies like Alberta Health Services and the Public Health Agency of Canada as that province surpassed 20,000 active cases on Monday.
“We sincerely appreciate all of the support of our partners, sponsors, delegates, speakers and suppliers. Rather than postpone the Conference to a later time in 2021 we have made the decision to focus our efforts on our 2022 Conference planned for June 8-9 at the spectacular Fairmont Banff Springs,” continued Ruskin.
Ruskin said the board of directors plans to convene its Annual General Meeting at a later time this year.
The WAB Conference is one of the longest-running events of its kind with the 2022 event the 86th gathering of owners and executives from private radio and television stations in Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba.
