Virgin Radio Edmonton to air syndicated ‘Brooke & Jeffrey’ in mornings

iHeartRadio Canada revealed Wednesday that 104.9 Virgin Radio (CFMG-FM) Edmonton will start airing syndicated American morning show Brooke & Jeffrey, starting Monday Aug. 17.

Hosted by Brooke Fox and Jeffrey Dubow, the show originates out of Seattle and is syndicated by Premiere Networks through its partnership with Bell Media subsidiary, Orbyt Media.

Up until this past Spring, Brooke & Jeffrey (formerly known as Brooke & Jubal prior to the departure of co-host Jubal Fresh) had a brief run in mornings on Corus Radio’s Chuck @ 92.5 (CKNG-FM) in the Edmonton market. Corus also recently pulled the show from the drive time slot on Energy 95.3 (CING-FM) Hamilton. It continues to air in mornings on Jump! (CKQB-FM) Ottawa, where it made its Canadian debut in Sept. 2018 to predictable backlash from listeners bemoaning the loss of local voices, Jesse Reynolds and Jenna Mosher.

Brooke & Jeffrey will replace the previous Virgin Edmonton morning show trio featuring David Cruise, Britt Jones and Katie Stanners, who had been together less than a year.

Stanners, who serves as morning show producer, is the only member of the morning show team to continue to be listed on the station website. The former Blackgold Broadcasting personality joined Bell Media this past November.

David Cruise

Cruise had been with the morning show since April 2019, while Jones joined Virgin Edmonton as midday host in June 2019, before being bumped up to mornings after just two months.

“Brooke and Jeffrey have a proven track record of engaging and entertaining listeners, and endearing fans!,” said Rob Vavrek, Operations Manager and Group Program Director, Bell Media, in a release. “We can’t wait to give Edmonton a different kind of morning show which also happens to be one of the top radio shows in North America!”
