Tyrone Edwards is succeeding Ben Mulroney as co-host of CTV entertainment magazine, ETALK.

Edwards made his debut in his new role Monday night with an interview with Alicia Keys, as well as coverage of the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).

Edwards started his television career at Bell Media a decade ago as host of Much’s RAPCITY. He’s been reporting for ETALK since June 2018, in addition to other hosting roles, including CTV Life Channel cooking series DNA Dinners; Celebrity Style News; and It List: California, among other shows.

“From day one, Tyrone has brought an unbridled passion for entertainment to ETALK,” said Nanci MacLean, Vice-President, Bell Media Studios and President, Pinewood Toronto Studios, in a release. “Paired with his unwavering work ethic and extensive experience, Tyrone’s deep pop culture knowledge and ability to engage in meaningful and candid conversations with guests of all kind make him the perfect fit for this senior role in the Canadian entertainment industry.”

Ben Mulroney announced in June, shortly after Bell Media cut ties with his wife Jessica in the wake of her public feud with blogger Sasha Exeter, that he would be stepping down from the show after 18 years to “create space for a new perspective or a new voice.” Mulroney continues to co-host CTV national morning show, Your Morning.

Edwards has interviewed celebrities from Adam Sandler to Dwyane Wade, Ewan McGregor, and Linda Hamilton. Last year, he hosted an ETALK special with the cast of Just Mercy in New York City that included Michael B. Jordan, Brie Larson, and Jamie Foxx. He also landed an exclusive interview with Drake backstage at the Toronto Raptors championship parade.

“I am Black, un-muted, and ready. This is an opportunity to combine two of my loves, entertainment and community, at a time when pop culture and social issues are so aligned. I’m excited that the world of entertainment can now lead us to ongoing conversations about racism, climate change, and mental health,” said Edwards. “I love what I do so it’s never felt like a job, but I am very aware of my responsibility as a voice on Canada’s #1 entertainment show, and I am so excited to start this new chapter together with my ETALK family.”

ETALK is now in its 19th season on the network. Edwards will co-host alongside Danielle Graham, who is currently off on maternity leave. Lainey Lui is filling in as interim co-host.
