Mike Bendixen has been appointed National Director of Talk Radio at Corus Entertainment and Director of Talk and Talent for 640 (CFIQ-FM) Toronto.
Bendixen, formerly the Program Director at Newstalk 1010 (CFRB-AM) Toronto for more than a decade and Bell Media’s National Format Director, News & Talk Programming, parted ways with Bell in November 2021.
Bendixen embarked on new venture, RMR Media Strategies, alongside radio veterans and former Bell Media colleagues Rob Basile and Rob Farina, earlier this year – described as a full-service agency for creators and brands offering everything from podcast and content solutions to coaching and development.
“Mike’s knowledge combined with Corus’s commitment to excellence sets the stage for a promising future for the world of Talk Radio,” said Ronnie Stanton, Vice-President, Corus Audio, in a company announcement.
Bendixen will take up his new role on Sept. 5, succeeding Larry Gifford as National Director of Talk, who will depart Corus Radio in October. Gifford is among those caught up in recent restructuring in the Corus Audio division.
As of today, a Corus spokesperson told Broadcast Dialogue that the company had also parted ways with Amanda Cupido, who has held the Director of Talk and Talent title at 640 Toronto since Dec. 2021. Cupido is also the founder of podcast production house, Lead Podcasting.
