Super Channel introduces doc-focused ‘Super Channel Quest’

Super Channel is introducing Super Channel Quest, the specialty network’s new channel focused on docuseries and documentaries.

Available as of Wednesday, the channel will feature a mix of content ranging from series that attempt to explain the unexplained, real-life mysteries, and science and discovery. It replaces GinxTV, the network’s 24-hour gaming lifestyle and eSports channel. Select GinxTV content will still be carried on Quest.

Super Channel President & CEO Don McDonald said in a company announcement that the new channel is a natural evolution, as viewers are increasingly drawn to programming that sparks wonder.

“We’re excited to present Super Channel Quest as the go-to source for content that satisfies curiosity and explores the who, what, when, where, why, and how behind some of humanity’s greatest mysteries” said McDonald. “The channel provides us with an opportunity to showcase our extensive selection of factual content and offer a mix of channels that more adequately reflects the content our viewers want to see.”

All docuseries currently airing on Super Channel Fuse, with the exception of true crime, will move over to the new channel, including Mysterious Islands, Secrets of Big DataForgotten FrontlinesMysteries of the Ancient Dead, and Ghosts Off Grid. New series coming to the channel this fall include Season 2 of Cursed Histories from Go Button Media, I Died…And Came Back from Farpoint Films, and Season 4 of Secrets In The Ice from Shark Teeth Films.

Super Channel Quest is launching with 100% Canadian content, although Chief Content Officer Kim Ball said that may change in the future.

“We’re proud to launch Super Channel Quest with 100% Canadian content, showcasing the incredible talent and creativity of our producers,” said Ball. “As the channel evolves, it will potentially include a mix of both homegrown and foreign content that fits the genre.”
