Stingray Radio signs on to iHeartRadio Canada app

Stingray Radio stations across Canada are now available via Bell Media’s iHeartRadio Canada app.

The partnership sees Stingray’s 101 radio stations, including boom 97.3 (CHBM-FM) Toronto, Q104 (CFRQ-FM) Halifax, Z95.3 (CKZZ-FM) Vancouver, and K97 (CIRK-FM) Edmonton, join iHeartRadio Canada’s roster of stations and podcasts.

“We believe that our radio stations should be available wherever listeners choose to listen,” said Steve Jones, SVP/Brands & Content at Stingray Radio, in a release. “The iHeartRadio Canada platform has proved to be immensely popular and we are thrilled to have Stingray stations join their already exciting lineup of audio options.”

The newly-added Stingray stations will promote iHeartRadio Canada on-air, while also continuing to stream on their respective websites and via other apps, including the Radioplayer Canada platform.

“iHeartRadio is Canada’s #1 digital music player for advertisers, reaching more monthly ad-supported users than anyone else,” said Dean Rutherford, Director of National Sales, Bell Media. “Expanding our partnership with Stingray allows millions of Stingray Radio listeners to join iHeartRadio. We are excited to bring our robust offering to clients in the coming weeks as we roll out new advanced advertising capabilities complementing our ever-growing monthly user base.”

“It’s always thrilling when the iHeart family grows,” added Mike Biondo, President of Business Development & Strategic Partnerships for iHeartMedia. “We look forward to Stingray becoming a key part of iHeartRadio Canada and seeing how far this new partnership will go.”

Radioplayer Canada, which has the participation of the majority of Canada’s broadcasters outside Bell Media, said Stingray remains committed to the platform.

“Stingray Radio continues to be a founding shareholder of Radioplayer Canada and is a very important partner in Radioplayer Worldwide, which is why their stations will remain available on all of our applications,” said Yann Legarson, CEO, Radioplayer Worldwide. “Hybrid radio is the key to maintaining the broadcasting that our listeners love. This is what makes Radioplayer so special and accessible to broadcast owners across the globe.”
