Sportsnet building new cutting-edge NHL production studio

Sportsnet is set to unveil a new, state-of-the-art NHL broadcast production studio this fall to be located at Rogers Campus in Toronto.

Sportsnet is set to unveil a new, state-of-the-art NHL broadcast production studio this fall to be located at Rogers Campus in Toronto.

Announced ahead of Tuesday’s Rogers Sports & Media Upfront presentation, the move will see the network’s entire production operation consolidated under one roof, which it says will facilitate more integration across platforms and sports properties.

The new studio will encompass multiple set areas with moveable pieces, two brand new control rooms with IP-based audio and video, high-tech monitor walls with ‘always-on’ display, real-time data integration, LED lighting, and virtual set extension capabilities.

Sportsnet says it will be leveraging those technology enhancements to produce new, unique content and provide advertising partners with more customizable opportunities for branded integration.

“Sportsnet continues to invest in all of our sports properties and platforms through enhanced technology that will bring the most immersive experience to fans and provide advertisers with an ideal environment to build their brands,” said Bart Yabsley, President of Sportsnet, in a network announcement. “The studio will be versatile, interactive, and future-forward, and is designed in a way that is flexible and adaptable to the changing media landscape. It is more than just a television studio – it’s a space that will inspire collaborative and innovative content creation for every platform, to the ultimate benefit of Canadian sports fans.”

Rogers says a full unveiling of the new studio will take place when construction is complete this fall.
