Production is underway in New Brunswick on the latest CBC original competition series, Race Against The Tide, which will see 10 teams of highly-skilled sand sculptors compete against the backdrop of the Bay of Fundy.
Hosted by actor and comedian Shaun Majumder, the show is slated to air in Canada on CBC and CBC Gem in 2021. The half-hour series is being produced by marblemedia, which is behind other unscripted Canadian programming like Netflix’s Blown Away and Restaurants on the Edge.
“We are thrilled to have Race Against The Tide – a premier sand sculpting competition TV series – underway, expanding the marblemedia slate of content that will appeal to worldwide audiences of all ages” said Matt Hornburg, executive producer and co-founder of marblemedia, in a release. “We have brought the best in class from around the world to create more twists on the ever-fascinating spectacle of sand sculpting. As the highest tide in the world, we couldn’t think of a better place to produce this series than the Bay of Fundy.”
The series will see teams of two battle for the title of champion with their creations – no matter how impressive – destined to be washed away the same day by the tide.
Race Against The Tide is executive produced by Hornburg and Mark Bishop of marblemedia; series producer and writer is Carly Spencer, while Donna Luke serves as co-executive producer. The series is co-produced with Hemmings House.
