Corus has revealed that Scott Fox and Kat Callaghan are joining 91.5 The Beat (CKBT-FM), which serves Kitchener-Waterloo and Cambridge, ON.
Starting Monday, Sept. 30, the on-air duo, who’ve been helming the morning show at Evanov Radio Group station Z103.5 (CIDC-FM) Toronto for the last seven years, will host The Beat’s new morning show, The Beat Breakfast with Scott and Kat.
Carlos Benevides, who had been hosting mornings on The Beat for the last decade, announced last week that he was leaving the station to join the staff at Conestoga College. Corus told Broadcast Dialogue that plans for a new show, hosted by Benevides’ former morning co-host Laura Geddes, are also in the works.
Fox and Callaghan both hail from Cambridge. 91.5 The Beat is also where Callaghan started her radio career.
“I’m really excited to be coming home! 13 years ago I started my radio journey at 91.5 The Beat, now I’m thrilled to be able to wake up the region I love so much and know so well,” said Callaghan.
“My career may have started in Toronto, but being born and raised in Cambridge, there’s something really special about returning home to live out this dream of being on the radio in the Tri-Cities,” said Fox.
Alongside the new morning show, former The Beat personality Mr. D is returning to the station to host evenings from 7 p.m. to midnight.
