Reshmi Nair and Scott MacArthur have been named the new co-hosts of Newstalk 1010 (CFRB-AM) Toronto afternoon drive show, The Rush, starting Monday, April 11.
Nair arrives from CP24 where she’s been anchoring CP24 Tonight for the last year, following a brief stint as one of the anchors of Bell Media’s Quibi content. Prior to that, she was a CBC News Network anchor for a decade. She started her career in radio as a reporter with Rogers Sports & Media’s News 1130 (CKWX-AM) Vancouver (now CityNews 1130).
MacArthur was most recently co-hosting The Leadoff with Ziggy and Scotty Mac on Sportsnet 590 The Fan (CJCL-AM), up until last September. With Sportsnet since 2019, he had also worked on the Blue Jays post-game call-in show and done a stint as third-in-the booth for Blue Jays home games, alongside Ben Wagner and Mike Wilner. Prior to that, he hosted The Scott MacArthur Show on TSN 1050 (CHUM-AM) Toronto.
“With two familiar, trusted hosts at the helm, our all-new afternoon drive show will be an entertaining and compelling daily listen for those seeking to know more about what’s happening in Toronto,” said Jeff MacDonald, Newstalk 1010’s Program Director, in a release.
Nair and MacArthur step in as hosts of The Rush following the departure of Jay Michaels, who joined the morning show at CHOM Montreal earlier this year. His former co-host Ryan Doyle parted ways with Newstalk 1010 in December. Jim Richards, who was relegated to network overnights in Bell Media’s Feb. 2021 round of layoffs, had been filling in.
