FLOW 98.7 (CKFG-FM) Toronto is under new leadership as CINA Radio Group appoints Randy Reid as Operations and Business Development Manager and Paul “Mastermind” Parhar as Program Director.

The move follows the exit of former General Manager Gary Gunter over the summer, who joined CINA in September 2021, following its acquisition of the former Stingray station.

Reid and Parhar join the hip-hop and R&B station under the guise of BIPOC-focused marketing and media content solutions agency, VX3. They’ll also continue to retain their roles with North Toronto community radio station VIBE 105 (CHRY-FM), run by the Canadian Centre for Civic Media and Arts Development, of which Reid is CEO.

Reporting to CINA Radio Group CEO Neeti P. Ray, Reid told Broadcast Dialogue that he and Parhar will leverage the capacity of VX3 to enhance the broadcast product, followed by a focus on FLOW’s digital offerings. Reid said listeners can expect “some foundational and programming shifts” over the next six to eight weeks.

“When we acquired the CKFG-FM licence it was with the best intentions to serve the community,” Ray said in a CINA Radio Group announcement. “To achieve that goal, we decided to go out and get the BEST the Country had to offer in the delivery of Black Radio.”

The move marks a return to the FLOW brand for Parhar – an influential figure on the Toronto hip-hop scene known for his relationship with artists like Drake – who previously worked with the station for a decade from 2010 to 2020, most recently as Assistant PD.

Reid and Parhar say they want to showcase a vision synonymous with the FLOW brand’s rich legacy as Canada’s first commercial Black radio station.

“I’m excited to get going on this new era of FLOW,” said Parhar “This brand is important to so many and we know exactly the right sauce to apply in order to get it there!”
