Radioplayer Canada Version 5 app release features new look and feel

Radioplayer Canada releases Version 5 of its app Thursday, aiming to deliver an improved listener experience.

The radio streaming app, that delivers more than 500 radio stations to Canadian listeners across multiple platforms, has introduced upgrades, including a revamped user interface and additional features.

In addition to a new look and feel, those added features include a “Favourites” carousel to make finding presets easier; improved search functionality; and new tools to enhance the in-car experience, including simple voice control (stop, pause, play) and deeper Apple Car Play integration.

Listeners can now receive notifications on their phones or tablets when a new episode of their favourite podcast or program is published. Version 5 also includes a “Share” feature that allows users to instantly share what they’re listening to with friends by sending a link that automatically opens the Radioplayer app and immediately streams that station.

“Radioplayer has always been about elevating the listening experience,” says Julie Adam, Board Chair of Radioplayer Canada and Senior Vice President, Radio & Audio, Rogers Sports & Media, in a release. “This latest version makes it even easier for listeners to navigate to their favourite stations and discover new ones.”

Among the broadcasters that participate in Radioplayer Canada are CBC/Radio-Canada and the stations of Bayshore Broadcasting, Blackburn Radio, Blackgold Radio, Byrnes Communications, CAB-K Broadcasting, Central Ontario Broadcasting, Clear Sky Radio, Cogeco Media, Corus Radio, Durham Radio, Golden West Broadcasting, Harvard Broadcasting, Jim Pattison Broadcast Group, Rawlco Radio, Rogers Media, RNC Media, Saskatoon Media Group, Stingray, Vista Radio, and Westman Communications Group, as well as the National Campus and Community Radio Association (NCRA/ANREC).

The new Radioplayer Canada app is available for download in the App Store, the Google Play Store, and the Amazon Appstore for Android. Radioplayer says the app has 1.1 million downloads in the App Store and Google Play Store, combined.
