Ontario radio legend Rick Hodge announces retirement

Rick Hodge has announced he’s retiring after 45 years in radio.

For the last six years, Hodge has been co-hosting the morning show at iHeartRadio Canada station 105.7 EZ Rock (CHRE-FM) St. Catharines. His final live broadcast will be this Friday, Nov. 2, beginning at 5:30 a.m. ET.

Born and raised in St. Catharines, Hodge began his on-air career in 1973 and spent over 20 years as part of the Roger, Rick & Marilyn Show on CHUM 104.5 in Toronto. Prior to joining co-host Lori Love on the 105.7 EZ Rock morning show, he also taught courses at Niagara College’s RTA broadcasting program.

“It’s been a privilege to finish my career in my hometown alongside my on-air partner of six years, the talented Lori Love. Lori is a true professional and an entertaining broadcaster, and I will continue listening to her in the mornings,” said Hodge. “I’d also like to thank the entire staff at the building we call ‘The White House’ and the dedicated 105.7 EZ Rock listeners for all their support.”

“Rick Hodge remains a true staple in Canada’s radio industry and has connected with listeners in St. Catharines, Toronto, and beyond,” said Nikki Moffat, president, Radio and Local TV, Bell Media. “Though we will miss his thoughtful and inviting presence to kick off each day, I wish him the very best in his retirement and thank him for his contributions over four decades on the air.”

Hodge’s announcement comes just one week after former CHUM FM co-host Roger Ashby announced his retirement, effective Dec. 5.

EZ Rock is inviting listeners to leave messages with favourite memories of Rick Hodge for his farewell Nov. 2 broadcast by texting 10570 or via social media.
