Lunenburg County’s first rock station, 107.9 GO ROCK (CFLB-FM), is on-the-air, launching with a slate of veteran talent from the Maritimes and beyond.
Playing artists from John Mellencamp and The Rolling Stones to Tool and Jane’s Addiction, the Novacast Media station has assembled a lineup of announcers led by morning show host Chris Pottie. Pottie was previously heard in afternoons on Evanov Communications’ Hot Country stations in Halifax, Brantford, Clarence/Rockland and Hawkesbury, and also did a stint in mornings on Live 105 (CKHY-FM) Halifax.
Sheilah MacDonald, a former morning show co-host on New Country 103.5 (CKCH-FM) Sydney, takes on middays, while Corey Mottley will be heard in afternoon drive. Mottley is a veteran of 97.7 HTZ-FM (CHTZ-FM) St. Catharines and 105.1 The River (CJED-FM) Niagara Falls.
Andrew Shaver will be heard evenings on Andrew’s Night Shift. An actor and director, Shaver is best known as the host of When We Wake Radio, a weekly community radio program and podcast showcasing Canadian indie artists. The show was a runner-up for Best Variety Program at the National Campus and Community Radio Association’s recent 2024 CRABO Awards.
Jeff Walker hosts Friday Night Loud, in addition to Sunday afternoons. Walker has held various programming and on-air roles with XL103 (CFXL-FM) Calgary, 96.9 JACK FM (CJAQ-FM), and K-97 (CIRK-FM) Edmonton, among other stations.
Jody Seeley, who was the longtime morning show host and program director at Sun Country (CFXO-FM) High River, will be heard Saturday mornings. Alison Clements, an alum of News 88.9 (CHNI-FM) Saint John and News 95.7 (CJNI-FM) Halifax, also joins the lineup.
The station team is rounded out by General Sales Manager Jim MacDonald and Jamie Dominey, who is helming the engineering/technical department.
“We’re incredibly excited to bring a rock station to call our own to Lunenburg County,” said Scott Clements, Station Manager of GO ROCK, in an announcement. “Our goal is to create a vibrant and energetic listening experience that celebrates the best of rock music. We invite the community to join us and enjoy what we have lined up.”
