Corus Entertainment and disgraced Q107 (CILQ-FM) Toronto morning man John Derringer have officially parted ways, according to a statement released on the station’s social media channels Tuesday morning.
Corus suspended the highly-rated Derringer in the Morning in May, following a gender discrimination complaint filed with the Canadian Human Rights Commission by former co-host Jennifer Valentyne. Valentyne went public with details of the toxic workplace culture she endured on the show from early 2017 to 2019, ranging from belligerent behaviour to a general lack of respect, including her co-hosts continuing to vape in an enclosed studio space despite Valentyne losing her voice. Her complaint was followed by former Q107 staffers like Jacqui Delaney, Andrea Rooz, Maureen Holloway and Raina Douris coming forward to relate their own experiences with Derringer.
The network says effective today, Derringer and Q107 have agreed to part ways after 22 years.
“The independent investigation initiated by Corus remains ongoing,” the statement continues. “Corus remains committed to having a full, fair investigation that enables all relevant concerns under Corus’ Code of Conduct to be raised and treats all participants equally regardless of their current employment status with Corus.”

Corus says details of a new morning show will be forthcoming. The station’s current on-air lineup includes Joanne Wilder, Fearless Fred, Dan Chen, and Kella.
The network has thus far declined to comment on the status of longtime Derringer in the Morning co-hosts Ryan Parker and John Garbutt.
Derringer had been heard in mornings on Q107 since 2001 and been in the Toronto market for nearly 30 years. He celebrated his 5,000th show on the station last November.
