POSITION SUMMARY
The Communications & Ambassador Officer is to create and manage internal and external communications, social media/web channels, and Family Ambassador programming for RMHC-SWO. In partnership with the Associate Director, the Communications & Ambassador Officer will develop and implement key community relations and fund development campaigns across multimedia channels. The Communication & Mission Officer position will champion the organization’s brand voice by developing meaningful community relations, digital and communications strategies, and the tactics required to support high-quality implementation. To ensure fair and equitable pay at RMHC-SWO, placement on the salary range will be based on your years of experience, skills and qualifications relevant to the Associate Director, Community Relations. Hiring salary range: $65,000 to $70,000. RMHC-SWO offers a 4-day workweek schedule for the employees.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Formalize and manage a robust ambassadorship program and portfolio, engaging family and community ambassadors across multiple regions to enhance brand awareness, funding urgency, and relationship-building efforts. Responsibilities include:
- Planning: Defining and growing the Ambassador Program, timelines, and resources
- Leading: Assembling and managing the Ambassadors to meet expectations
- Monitoring: Tracking progress and making adjustments to keep the program on track
- Communicating: Keeping stakeholders informed and engaged and resolving issues
- Managing /scheduling/training: Overseeing the Ambassadors, preparing documents, and maintaining deliverables
- Evaluating: Assessing the project’s efficiency and effectiveness from start to finish
- Develop and manage a comprehensive social media presence across multiple channels, leveraging high-quality written and visual collateral to enhance community building and fundraising effectiveness. Create and maintain social media strategy and calendar planning
- Oversee delivery of monthly e-newsletter via Blackbaud software; grow recipient list to engage potential and existing donors and community partners
- In partnership with the Associate Director, Coordinate the development of high-quality brand awareness marketing and fundraising materials
- Assist in the creation and delivery of stewardship pieces and additional marketing materials for major donor initiatives
- Oversee and implement RMHC Canada initiatives involving major donor stewardship and promotion via social media and story sharing.
- Working with the Associate Director of Community Relations, the Communications & Ambassador Officer will,
- Facilitate the development and implementation of chapter campaigns, including End-of-Year-Giving, webpage creation, signage design, social media content creation and scheduling, print coordination, and media involvement.
- Writing speeches, media releases, annual reports, and other content to communicate the organization’s products and activities
- Developing and maintaining communications channels and materials, including websites, social media, and digital media archives, and ensuring accuracy and quality of content.
- Ensuring all content complies with company standards and style guides
Communications & Community Relations:
- Provide support in creating materials and communications for Monthly Giving, Payroll Giving, Holiday Giving, Adopt-a-Room, and Family and Volunteer Programs, including letters, brochures, etc.
- Create and distribute 12 monthly e-newsletters per year.
- Conceptualize and design electronic and print templates for displays, presentations, publications, and marketing. materials, signage, and websites that will be adapted and updated by various departments or marketing.
- Provide oversight for the maintenance of Photographs and Releases of Information.
- Provide input and assistance to the Team in planning, developing, and organizing events for publicity and information purposes.
- Keep up to date on current communication trends.
- Engage with partners across RMHC to learn and adopt innovative approaches to ambassador program management and evolution.
Marketing:
- The Communications & Ambassador Officer should have strong writing, organizational, and problem-solving skills. They should also be open to innovative ideas and able to adapt positively to change. As delivery dates approach, the position may involve unusual work, including long hours and weekends. The officer may also need to interact with a variety of internal and external stakeholders, including families, donors, and sponsors.
- Aid in promoting programs, initiatives, and accomplishments consistent with the chapter’s strategic plan and priorities.
- Assist with budget development with estimated time and cost of materials relative to the completion of media design projects.
QUALIFICATIONS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS
- Degree or diploma in marketing, media studies, communications, or a related field(s).
- Minimum five years of related experience.
- Certifications, licenses, or memberships appropriate to the industry.
- Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to think laterally.
- High flexibility / adaptable with strong interpersonal skills allows one to work effectively in a diverse environment.
- Understanding and familiarity with brand building and brand management.
- Experience creating and executing successful e-mail marketing, Internet marketing, and direct marketing programs.
- Demonstrated aptitude for learning new technologies.
- Ability to effectively communicate concepts related to media and communications to the team.
- Knowledge of colour theory, layout, and design principles.
- Ability to work individually as well as part of a team.
- Demonstrated time management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage conflicting demands.
- Ability to lift weights of 10 to 50 lbs.
- Clear two-step TB test.
- Possess a driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- A satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check is a condition of employment.
- Annual Police and Child Abuse Registry Declaration.
HOURS OF WORK:
Monday to Thursday – 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. Occasional evenings and weekends, as required.
