Byrnes Communications is looking for someone who wants to be part of the community and keep our local audience informed and entertained. We are an independent broadcaster who believes in the importance of doing local radio right and delivering local news and information. Our websites www.101morefm.ca and www.105theriver.ca provide critical local information daily. We are looking for a qualified news person to write and deliver morning news on our two stations based in Niagara Falls Ontario. You’ll also be a co-host on the morning show on one of our stations

Responsibilities:

  • Writing and delivering all aspects of morning drive news both on air and online for CJED and CFLZ.
  • Producing and airing accurate, relevant newscasts, with an emphasis on local.
  • Enhancing the image of our station as a dependable source for timely, local information.
  • Ensuring our news stories are posted on our websites and social media in a timely manner while also maintaining accuracy.
  • Forming positive relationships with local news and public affairs sources.

As a cohost you will have superior show prep skills and take part in the morning show and bring content that catches our target audience’s attention.
We engage our listeners both on the air, on the phones and on-line.

Required Skills And Qualifications:

  • A Broadcast Journalism/Radio Broadcasting Diploma and at least one year’s on-air experience in a commercial radio station;
  • Excellent writing skills [for the ear] and on-air delivery;
  • Strong website, social media skills are important. Video skills are a great asset.
  • Excellent computer skills with the ability to type accurately at least 50 words a minute;
  • Ability to work well under pressure and adhere to deadlines;
  • A working knowledge of Burli news software would be an asset.
  • A valid driver’s license (Ontario).
  • Relocation to the Niagara region is a requirement
