Corus talk network, 640 Toronto introduce new weekend shows

Toronto This Weekend with Maggie John is among the new programming being unveiled on Corus talk stations, starting Saturday.

Corus Radio’s talk network is set to introduce two new national shows this weekend, while 640 (CFIQ-AM) Toronto will also debut two additional local shows.

Premiering across the network is the one-hour For What It’s Worth with Rubina Ahmed-Haq, featuring personal finance and workplace stories ranging from interest rate numbers to how mortgage payments have changed and what to do if you win the lottery. 640 Toronto’s personal finance expert, Ahmed-Haq also has a regular segment on Global News Toronto on Thursdays called Your Money, and regularly appears on The Morning Show to share money saving tips.

At Your Best with Yonah Budd premieres this Saturday night in the 11 p.m. – 1 a.m. ET time slot, nationally. A performance coach and therapist, Budd highlights inspiring stories of those overcoming mental and physical obstacles to become their best selves.

640 will introduce Toronto This Weekend with Maggie John, highlighting what’s happening in the GTA from health and business to entertainment and community events. It will air weekends from 7 – 10 a.m. ET

Tasting Together with André Proulx and Miroki Tong premieres on 640 this Saturday at 5 p.m. ET. Exploring Toronto’s food and drink scene, Proulx, founder of the 80x Wine Company and Tong, a self-proclaimed wine geek, meet some of the city’s best chefs, mixologists and restauranteurs. Along the way, they’ll dive into food and drink pairings, menu trends, hidden gems, and the history of some of the city’s classic dishes.

640 Program Director Amanda Cupido says the new lineup means the station will no longer air reroll of weekday programs on weekends.

“This is an intentional move to keep our programming timely, relevant and make sure our audiences are always learning something new when they tune in,” Cupido told Broadcast Dialogue. “An added bonus is that it opens up our airwaves for fresh voices from the city and brings more depth to the Canadian radio industry.”
